What is a Minimalist or Barefoot Shoe?
The origin of barefoot
The word "barefoot" comes from the English bare (naked) and foot (foot). The combination of these two words defines well the essence and philosophy of barefoot: walking barefoot.
Walking barefoot is the best thing we can do for ourselves and our children , for the health of our feet and for the health of the entire musculoskeletal system . Even today, the human foot is built from birth to allow this. To walk, we need nothing other than our own feet!
The easiest way to get all the sensations would be to not wear shoes. But we agree that now, we can no longer simply walk barefoot in town, at work, at school... Well, you can always try but I'm not sure it's very pleasant!
Our feet, and especially the skin under our feet, are no longer used to it and have softened over the years of wearing shoes. We risk cutting ourselves or hurting ourselves with the impact on the ground or stones if we do not protect our feet at least a little. This is why shoes were created, to protect the feet from the outside while letting them behave as if they were really barefoot.
Barefoot is a modern trend, which brings us back to the original natural principles. The shoes perfectly imitate walking barefoot and support all the natural properties of the feet, without restricting them at all.
Ordinary shoes are made by tapering at the toe in front. If we were to make two straight lines on each side of the shoe, they would quickly cross, which is the result of the gradual narrowing of the toe.
Conversely, when you look at barefoot shoes, they are widened in the front, thanks to which they do not create any pressure and offer space for the toes to "realize" themselves while walking, running or playing. It is natural for us and let's admit it, so much more comfortable!
